Manchester United have confirmed the signing of youngster Enzo Kana-Biyik from French side Le Havre.
The 18-year-old is yet to make his senior debut but is a highly-rated prospect. The youngster plays as a striker and has signed a long-term deal with United.
The Frenchman will make the switch from Le Havre to United on a free transfer, just as Paul Pogba did back in 2009. Kana-Biyik’s contract had expired so there was no transfer fee, although the Reds will still pay a smaller compensation fee.
Kana-Biyik will not be in United boss Ruben Amorim’s squad next season, however. This is because the striker will be sent out on loan to INEOS-owned Swiss side Lausanne-Sport.
The club’s announcement read: “Manchester United have completed the signing of exciting young forward Enzo Kana-Biyik.
“Last season, the France youth international scored nine goals in 18 games for Le Havre’s Under-19s team and earned a place on the bench for the first team on two occasions.
“Following the signing of his contract, the emerging talent has secured a loan switch to Swiss Super League side, Lausanne-Sport.
“Everyone at United would like to welcome Enzo to the club and wish him the very best of luck for his loan.”
Kana-Biyik comes from a family with strong footballing traditions. Both his father and older brother represented Cameroon at full international level.
Whilst completing a deal for Kana-Biyik, United continue their pursuit of another forward with Cameroonian roots in Brentford’s Bryan Mbuemo.
The forward is keen on a move to Old Trafford, however the two clubs have still been unable to reach an agreement.
