Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has held talks with PSG but is expected to stay at Old Trafford beyond the summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The £200,000 per-week ace has endured a tough 18 months at his boyhood club and has recently been linked with a move to the French capital.

What’s the latest news involving Rashford?

According to Fabrizio Romano, the reigning Ligue 1 champions considered Rashford as a replacement for Kylian Mbappe back in the summer of 2021.

Of course, Mbappe has since ended up committing his long-term future to PSG, although Le Parc des Prince side are once again interested in signing the 24-year-old, who scored just four Premier League goals last season.

According to the Telegraph, PSG held ‘tentative talks’ with Rashford’s brother in France last week, although the report claims that United are ‘relaxed’ about the situation.

Rashford has entered the final 12 months of his Red Devils contract, although he has an option to extend his deal by an extra year, which means it would take an ‘extraordinary offer’ to sign him.

What did Jones say about Rashford?

Jones expects the England international to remain at Old Trafford beyond 1 September’s deadline and has even suggested a contract extension in 2023 should he enjoy a successful campaign under Erik ten Hag.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “The official view on this is that yes there have been talks with PSG and this is the second time they have shown an interest in him so that is flattering and the chance to play with [Lionel] Messi and Mbappe is obviously tempting at a time when things are not going well at United.

“But it’s not that simple. He still holds high value to the club, he’s been at United his whole life, he’s back in the team under a coach that rates him, and he’ll be offered a new contract next summer if he performs well over the course of this season.

“At the moment the expectation is that he will stay at United.”
