La Liga giants Barcelona are facing serious competition in their pursuit of a leading transfer target ahead of the summer.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have this weekend provided an insight into the latest developments surrounding Dani Olmo.

The name of RB Leipzig star Olmo has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital across the week to date.

As much comes after a meeting between the Spaniard’s representatives and Barcelona director Deco was followed by confirmation that the Blaugrana are ‘serious’ about bringing in Olmo with a view to next season.

The 25-year-old is understood to have been identified as the ideal addition to the attacking ranks at Montjuïc, with Deco and co. on the lookout for a player who can operate anywhere across the frontline.

If the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, however, then Barca appear to be far from Olmo’s only suitors.

As per the aforementioned MD, Manchester United and Bayern Munich, too, have placed the Spanish international on their respective summer wishlists.

Though Olmo himself is understood to be leaning towards a move back to Barcelona – where he spent the early years of his career developing – the race could in the end come down to which club is willing to cough up the €60 million release clause included in his contract at the Red Bull Arena.
