Manchester United have ramped up their interest in Monaco defender Axel Disasi as the club look to sign a centre-back this summer.

Erik ten Hag wants to bring in a new central defender this summer and the Red Devils are one of several Premier League sides to have expressed an interest in Disasi, who is valued at around £44m at Monaco.

The 25-year-old has shone since signing for Monaco from Reims in 2020 and last year became the first Frenchman since 1966 to make his international debut during a World Cup. He has earned three caps for Les Bleus and has been called up to the national squad for this month’s fixtures with the Netherlands and Ireland.

Ten Hag wants to improve his options at centre-back and it was this week revealed that the club are prepared to allow Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof to leave at the end of the season to make room for new additions.

The Daily Mail are reporting that Monaco are willing to allow Disasi to leave this summer, provided the club’s valuation is met.

The defender – who can also operate at right-back – has also attracted interest from Tottenham and West Ham, while Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are said to be among his suitors on the continent.
