Transfer News: Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford in talks with Paris Saint-Germain for summer transfer

According to Canal’s Hadrien Grenier, further confirmed by transfer guru Abdellah Boulma (h/t The Express), Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford is still in talks with Paris Saint-Germain over a potential move in the summer transfer window. The attacker has endured a tough season overall so far, but he has found his goalscoring boots recently.

Rashford had previously been in contact with PSG, and both parties are still engaged in discussions with a summer transfer in mind. He is being eyed as a target to potentially replace Kylian Mbappe, who is seemingly likely to move to Santiago Bernabeu when his contract expires at the end of the season.

The Englishman is open to moving to Paris and is apparently being “seduced” by the club that boasts of housing talents such as Lionel Messi and Neymar. Since he “likes the idea” of joining the Ligue 1 club, it will be an interesting couple of months ahead when the summer window will be on the horizon.

Out of nowhere

This piece of news would certainly catch a lot of Man United fans off-guard. The 24-year-old’s contract is up in 2023, which would create concerns since the forward will be in the last year of his current deal next summer. It is still unknown what his intentions are regarding a renewal.

Last year, the Red Devils ace did not rule out moving abroad sometime in the future, although he mentioned Real Madrid and Barcelona as the potential destinations.

However, we should not look too much into it unless we receive solid information regarding this subject. After all, the England international’s performance shows how he has been leaving everything on the pitch even when he has been out of form. Moreover, he is bound to have an environment where he can excel at Old Trafford since both Edinson Cavani and Cristiano Ronaldo would not be here forever.

Even when CR7 and the Uruguayan international have been available for selection, Rashford has been picked on a regular basis by Rangnick. He is one of our very own and fans wouldn’t be wrong to think that he could well be the face of the club for this generation.

But all that would certainly be ruined if he makes the switch to Parc des Princes. Ander Herrera did the same in 2019 but that was different. Rashford is in the prime years of his career and is a product of our youth academy.

The most ideal thing fans would want- if the aforementioned news has some truth to it- would be for Rashford to commit his future to us by way of a long-term contract. Let’s wait and see how this situation turns out in the next few days and if there is more information regarding this subject.
