Man City Esports is pleased to announce contract renewals for both Donovan ‘Tekkz’ Hunt and Matias Bonanno who will spend a second season competing together in EA FC 25.
Tekkz and Mati helped City make history last season on EA FC 24.
Our ePremier League triumph made Man City Esports the first club to claim the title twice – and Tekkz became the first player to achieve the feat too.
And the FC Pro is looking to pick up more silverware in his second season with City.
“I’m buzzing to have re-signed with City,” said Tekkz. “It was a fun year last year with some good moments and memories such as winning the ePrem.
“Hopefully this year we can win that again and many more trophies.
“Mati and I worked well together last season and we’re hoping to take that to new heights this season and win more international tournaments.
“My main goal this year is to have strong performances in the eChampions League and FC Pro World Championship. They are the two biggest tournaments so they’re the two I want to win.
“Also winning back-to-back ePremier League titles would mean a lot to me because it would re-pay City’s faith they have put in me and it’s also a ticket to the other two trophies I want to lift.”
Mati won his third major club based honour, having previously claimed the CONMEBOL eLibertadores in 2021 and the eLaLiga title in 2023.
And after also lifting the DreamHack Summer title, Mati can’t wait to continue his winning ways with City.
“I am very excited to renew with City, it is one of the most important clubs in the world and it is an honour to continue being part of the Club,” said Mati.
“I am very happy to continue sharing a team with Tekkz this season too, I think we will be able to achieve what we did last campaign in the ePremier League.
“It would be incredible to be the first to achieve back-to-back titles and it would fill me with pride to be able to help City with that.
“Also for the new season, the objectives are the same as always, to win everything, but for me personally the tournaments I want to win the most are Pro Open, eChampions League and the FC Pro World Championship.”
And the 2024/25 campaign will also see Edu Castellano stay as the coach of the team with former pro Zezinho joining the coaching staff for the upcoming competitions.
During his playing career, Zezinho won the 2020 FUT Champions Cup and the eLa Liga Cup so brings with him a wealth of experience competing on the big stage.
Castellano is looking forward to the addition of Zezinho to the coaching team and the impact they can have on our performances.
“I’m thrilled to keep working with Tekkz and Bonanno in FC 25,” began Edu.
“They’re world class talents with limitless potential. Having won the ePremier League and qualified for the FC Pro World Championship last year, I’m excited to see them reach even greater heights.
“Zezinho’s decision to transition into coaching is a huge win for our team.
“His playing career speaks for itself and I know he’ll bring a fresh perspective and a competitive edge to our coaching staff. Having a world champion on the team is a dream come true.”
Everyone would like to congratulate Tekkz, Mati and Edu on their contract renewals and would like to wish a warm welcome to Zezinho!
