Manchester City defender Ruben Dias says their Premier League title winning season helped prepare him for the Euros.

Dias' Portugal launched their Euro 2020 campaign with a 3-0 win against Hungary in Budapest but the challenge steps up a level now with their next group game against Germany in Munich on Saturday.

"I played the Premier League and every single game prepares me for the Euros," he said in a press conference in Munich ahead of Saturday's game.

"It was also a very tiring season, but I'm always a very focused player and I focused on the individual elements, on the physical aspects for instance and little by little I became more prepared and I'm ready to be at the highest level and in order to win the Euros we have to be at the highest level."

Dias will come up against club teammate Ilkay Gundogan in Munich and while the pair have exchanged messages this week, they haven't gone into detail on the game.

“As it happens I did talk to him but it wasn't a philosophical conversation, I just wanted to wish him good luck and he did the same," said Dias.

"On the pitch it will be two strong sides, two of the best in the Euros, two teams who want to have possession and want to dominate the game.

"We know what Germany are capable of, but we also have our strong suit and our weapons and more of the individual abilities of each team. The one who wins will be the one who deals with the collective issues better and the one better prepared from a collective standpoint."
