History was made at Athlone Stadium on Saturday as Mamelodi Sundowns' Peter Shalulile cemented his legendary status, becoming the Premier Soccer League's all-time leading goal scorer. The decisive moment came in a hard-fought 1-0 victory for Sundowns over Stellenbosch FC, a result that propelled them to the top of the Betway Premiership table with 11 points.

The match was a tactical affair, with both managers opting for strategic rotations. Sundowns' coach reshuffled his lineup after a midweek draw with Kaizer Chiefs, reinstating star striker Shalulile to the starting eleven alongside Bathusi Aubaas, Aubrey Modiba, and Kutlwano Letlhaku. This meant spots on the bench for Iqraam Rayners, Teboho Mokoena, Fawaaz Basadien, and Jayden Adams.

Facing them, Stellenbosch FC showed more consistency, making only two alterations from their previous win over Marumo Gallants. Ibraheem Jabaar and Khomotjo Lekoloane were brought into the fray, replacing Lesiba Nku and Genino Palace.

Ultimately, the day belonged to one man. Shalulile's record-breaking goal not only secured three crucial points for his team but also etched his name into the history books as the most prolific scorer the PSL has ever seen.
