Malo Gusto believes that Monday’s 6-0 win over Everton has given Chelsea a timely confidence boost ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup semi final against Manchester City.

The Blues made it back to back home wins and have only lost once at Stamford Bridge since October, a 4-2 defeat to Wolves.

It was the perfect start to a week which ends with the Blues returning to Wembley for the first time since losing the Carabao Cup final to Liverpool in February.

Gusto has been in superb form this season and has more than stepped up in the absence of Reece James, putting in a series of impressive performances at right back.

The 20-year-old believes the victory against Everton wasn’t only important for the three points, but also for giving the Blues a lift ahead of their Wembley showdown with City.

Speaking to Chelsea’s official website the Frenchman said:

“It was an important game and we were very happy to win at the Bridge. We have to get more confidence for Saturday because it’s going to be an important game for us.

“We are young but we have talent. We just have to keep pushing together.

“Saturday will be an important game for us. We know the FA Cup is the last trophy we can win.

“So we have to work this week, with our confidence, and try to keep pushing ahead of this type of game. We are going to Wembley to win.”

There will be added motivation for the Blues as they look to banish the memories of their visit to Wembley earlier in the season.

‘It’s like going for revenge for us” , Gusto added.

“Our last appearance at Wembley was complicated for the team.

“Now we have another chance to win and we have to improve more, keep pushing, and try to win.”

Chelsea will take confidence from the fact they haven’t lost to City this season and with the impressive form of Cole Palmer who has 11 goals in his last six games anything is possible.
