SC Amiens defender Mamadou Fofana (26) is set to complete a €1.7m deal to join MLS outfit New England Revolution, according to a report from L’Équipe.

Fofana joined Ligue 2 side Amiens from FC Metz three-and-a-half years ago for €2m and has since gone on to make 142 appearances for the club. However, he is now set to take on a new challenge and move over to the US. L’Équipe understands that New England Revolution have already come to an agreement with Amiens regarding a fee for the centre-back, whose contract with the Ligue 2 side still have just over 18 months remaining.

Fofana has already agreed a three-year deal with the Boston-based club. However, he will not join his new club until January, meaning that he will continue to feature with Amiens until the upcoming winter break, towards the end of December. The Mali international (42 caps) has made 146 appearances in Ligue 2 and another 37 in Ligue 1.
