Mainoo asks Red Devils for loan move | OneFootball

Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has asked to leave Old Trafford on loan.

According to BBC Sport, United have turned down the request, telling the academy product they see him as an important player and want him to remain at the club to battle for his place.

Whether further discussions take place before Monday’s transfer deadline is still uncertain.

Mainoo, 20, played the full match in Wednesday’s EFL Cup loss to Grimsby on penalties. However, he was left on the bench for both of United’s opening Premier League fixtures. Head coach Ruben Amorim has made it clear the youngster is competing directly with captain Bruno Fernandes for minutes.

The England international is under contract until 2027, but talks about a new deal have stalled.

The BBC report states that Mainoo does not wish to leave United on a permanent basis, but is worried about how much Premier League action he will actually get this season.
