Mike Maignan has undergone the medical and signed the contract as he’s set to become Milan’s new keeper.
After finishing the season in 2nd place and securing a CL qualification on the final round of Serie A, the Rossoneri turned their attention to the transfer market, and have wasted no time making big moves.
Once Milan understood that the chances of keeping Gianluigi Donnarumma at the club no longer exist, they accelerated negotiations for Mike Maignan who has been on the shortlist of Paolo Maldini and co. for quite some time.
Last night the deal was concluded and Maignan arrived in Milano. This morning he underwent the medical check-ups at La Madonnina Clinic before heading to Casa Milan to put pen to paper and sign a five-year deal with the Rossoneri. Only the official announcement is now missing.
As reported by Milannews.it, Sky and others, Milan agreed to pay Lille €13m + €2m for the goalkeeper who finished the season with the most clean sheets in Europe – 21 – followed by Ederson of Manchester City (19), Jan Oblak of Atlético Madrid (18) and Thibaut Courtois of Real Madrid (17). Fresh off winning Ligue 1, the 25-year-old will be earning €2.5m plus bonuses.
Milan are replacing Donnarumma with one of the best options available on the market. The Frenchman will be in the goal of the 7-time Champions League winners in next year’s competition.
