Olympique Lyonnais have confirmed that striker Mariano Díaz will leave the club and re-sign for Real Madrid.
The 25-year-old left Los Blancos last summer after failing to establish himself in their first team, but then thrived in Ligue 1 for Les Gones in 2017/18.
His 18 goals catapulted them into the Champions League places and as such, the reigning European champions have decided to exercise a buy-back option that was in the original deal.
In a statement Lyon confirmed that Madrid will pay €33m plus €3m in add-ons for the Dominican Republic international.
A statement on the Spanish giant’s official website subsequently confirmed the deal, with Díaz to be unveiled on Friday afternoon.
