Aston Villa have agreed personal terms with Lyon striker Georges Mikautadze, according to French journalist Marc Mechenoua.
Villa have offered an initial €25 million for the Georgian international, and talks are ongoing over a move to the Midlands.
They have been linked with Borussia Dortmund striker Maximilian Beier and have West Ham United’s Lucas Paqueta on their radar, but a deal for Mikautadze could be agreed instead.
The 24-year-old ended last term with 17 goals and 11 assists across all competitions and has scored once in two games this season.
Villa could lose Morgan Rogers or Ollie Watkins before the transfer deadline on Monday, and it appears they are preparing for the potential exit of either attacker.
Mikautadze has impressed in recent seasons, notching 14 goals in 2023-24 and 24 goals with Metz in Ligue 2 the previous season.
The Villa target bagged 36 goals while in Belgium with Seraing and could prove to be a hit in the Premier League if he joins them.
Villa may need to sell first to sign the Lyon star to stay compliant with the Premier League’s financial rules.
They have until Monday to sort things out, and failure to bolster their squad depth with one or two more quality additions could prove disastrous.
