Georges Mikautadze is set to lead the line for boyhood club Olympique Lyonnais for the first time as they prepare to face Stade Rennais on Sunday evening.

Mikautadze rejected AS Monaco’s advances in order to return to his boyhood club earlier this summer. As Lyon prepare to open their Ligue 1 campaign, they do so without some key players, notably captain Alexandre Lacazette but also Nicolás Tagliafico, both of whom are suspended. Rayan Cherki, who represented France at the Olympics, is yet to return and is currently on holiday. Players such as Amine Sarr and Dejan Lovren, both of whom don’t feature in Pierre Sage’s plans, have been left out.

In Lacazette’s absence, it will be academy product Maxence Caqueret, linked with a summer departure, who is expected to captain Lyon.
