Whilst Pierre Sage doesn’t have any injury concerns as Olympique Lyonnais get their UEFA Europa League campaign underway against Olympiacos on Thursday, he does have choices to make.

For the first time since taking charge in December 2023, some pressure is beginning to mount on Sage after Lyon’s middling – at best – start to the season. After another summer of heavy recruitment, he is yet to find the right balance in his squad and he looks set to continue to tinker against Olympiacos.

Lyon are set to start with just one striker, Alexandre Lacazette, meaning that Georges Mikautadze and Gift Orban will have to settle for a place on the bench. Still working back to 100% fitness, Ernest Nuamah is set to get the nod at right wing with Malick Fofana on the left.

Lyon likely lineup v Olympiacos

Lucas Perri; Nicolás Tagliafico, Moussa Niakhaté, Duje Caleta- Car, Clinton Mata; Corentin Tolisso, Nemanja Matić, Jordan Veretout; Malick Fofana, Alexandre Lacazette, Ernest Nuamah. (L’Éq)
