According to a report from Foot Mercato, Olympique Lyonnais are plotting a swoop for Union Berlin defender Danilho Doekhi (27). The centre-back only has a year left on his contract with the Bundesliga side, with the French outlet explaining that he could be plucked from Germany for €7m.

The defender was a target for OGC Nice last summer when the club were looking at a possible replacement for Jean-Clair Todibo (25), who eventually left to join West Ham United. However, despite interest being high in the Dutchman with Premier League sides also linked, no move ever materialised.

Lyon envision Doekhi bolstering their defensive line alongside new recruit and fellow countryman Ruben Kluivert (24). The club are hoping to plot a return to the UEFA Champions League this season and will look to progress into the latter stages of the UEFA Europa League having reached the quarter-finals last season.
