Lyon near signing of Sporting’s Afonso Moreira | OneFootball

Whilst Olympique Lyonnais are not currently permitted to sign players, that is not preventing them from making concrete steps to add to their current squad. The club will have a meeting with the DNCG, French football’s financial watchdog, next Tuesday, with the hope of not only being once again authorised to recruit, but also with the hope of the administrative relegation issued back in November being lifted.

Should those two things happen, L’Équipe understands that Lyon will complete the signing of young Portuguese winger Afonso Moreira (20). The publication understands that an agreement between OL and Moreira’s current club, Sporting CP, is close. The Portugal youth international would join for a fee of around €2m and would then become a rotation option in the forward line.

Paulo Fonseca is a fan of the player and has pushed for his arrival at the Groupama Stadium. Should the deal go through, Moreira would sign a five-year deal.
