Lyon have been included in FIFA’s Registration ban list for an unpaid transfer debt worth €2,000, according to L’Equipe. FIFA’s Registration ban list includes clubs that are “temporarily prohibited from registering new players due to various infractions, such as financial disputes or regulatory breaches“. FIFA have temporarily hit Lyon with a transfer ban for three transfer windows, which means Les Gones can no longer register new players until January 2027.

The outlet understands that Lyon have been sanctioned due to an outstanding debt worth €2,000 in transfer fees. The John Textor-owned Ligue 1 side has been notified of this ban at the same time as it was posted online on the dedicated FIFA’s Registration ban list website.

Lyon told L’Equipe on Monday evening that they had regularized their situation and cleared their debt. “We have been reviewing certain internal procedures over the past few weeks and this issue was one of them“, Lyon said to the outlet. FIFA adds that transfer bans can be lifted subject to the club completing specific procedures.
