FIFA have lifted Lyon’s transfer ban until January 2027 after Les Gones duly settled an outstanding transfer fee debt, L’Equipe can reveal. On Monday, Lyon were included in FIFA’s Registration ban list, a list that includes clubs that are “temporarily prohibited from registering new players due to various infractions, such as financial disputes or regulatory breaches“. Lyon were hit with a provisional transfer ban until January 2027, but the ban had been lifted because Les Gones cleared their debt.

The outlet understands that Lyon needed to pay Eredivisie side SC Heerenveen an outstanding €2238,36 debt relating to interests on Amin Sarr’s €11m transfer fee. The Ligue 1 side signed the Swedish centre-forward in January 2023. Sarr spent the last two seasons on loan, first at Wolfsburg and then at Hellas Verona. He remains tied with OL over a contract set to expire in 2027.
