According to a report from L’Équipe, Lyon are aiming to cancel a deal to sign Matt Turner (31) from Nottingham Forest. The Ligue 1 club had agreed a deal to sign the USMNT goalkeeper for €8m before their administrative relegation to Ligue 2 following an unsuccessful meeting with the DNCG.

Although Lyon’s relegation was overturned on appeal, they are still under transfer and salary restrictions following the jurisdiction outlined by the French football financial watchdog. Expecting OL to survive the meeting with the financial authorities unscathed, John Textor had sanctioned the deal to sign Turner.

Les Gones no longer want to recruit the 31-year-old after a transfer restriction was put in place and the club presented reduced budgets to avoid relegation to the French second tier. A lawyer has been tasked by the Rhône club to negotiate with Nottingham Forest to try and negotiate an agreement where Turner would stay at the City Ground.
