Tyrhys Dolan is set to stay at Blackburn Rovers this summer despite interest from Luton Town.
Blackburn Rovers have received a transfer boost as forward Tyrhys Dolan is set to stay at the club this summer despite being in the final year of his contract and having interest from Luton Town.
That is according to the Lancashire Telegraph, which states that John Eustace and co. are expecting the player to remain at Ewood Park throughout this transfer window.
This is the first transfer window for Eustace as Blackburn manager, after he joined the club in February earlier this year.
It was a tricky few months for the former Birmingham City manager, as he had to try and guide Rovers away from the relegation zone.
It wasn’t plain sailing for the Lancashire side, but they managed to get over the line in style as they beat Championship winners Leicester City on the final day.
The task will now be to avoid a repeat of last season and climb the table. To do so, the club is going to need to keep hold of its best players, and therefore, the news about Dolan will be great news for the club.
It was reported by The Mirror earlier in June that Luton Town held an interest in Blackburn Rovers attacker Tyrhys Dolan.
It was stated that the Hatters had been tracking the player for some time, and he was expected to feature on their list of targets.
However, Luton have now suffered a blow in their attempts to sign the player, as, according to the Lancashire Telegraph, Dolan is expected to stay at Ewood Park.
The report states that despite the player only having 12 months left on his contract, he is expected to remain a part of John Eustace’s side throughout this transfer window.
That means it gives Blackburn a little while longer to try and negotiate a new contract because if one isn’t agreed upon, Dolan can leave the club for nothing in 12 months.
Last season was another productive campaign for the Blackburn attacker, as he featured in 36 of the club’s 46 league games.
Tyrhys Dolan started 29 of those 36 league games, and during that time he scored five goals and chipped in with four assists.
Dolan played an important part in the club’s fight against relegation, as he scored and assisted in the 5-1 demolishing of Sunderland towards the end of last season, and he also set up Sammie Szmodics in the 1-0 win away at Leeds United.
The 22-year-old also featured in the EFL and FA Cup for Rovers, but the winger was unable to add to his goal or assist tally.
This news that Tyrhys Dolan is going to stay at Ewood Park beyond this transfer window is a huge boost for Blackburn and manager John Eustace.
It was a rotten campaign for the club last season, so there may have been expectations that they would end up losing one of their key players this summer.
But for that to reportedly not happen, it is massive for the club, as it helps them retain a strong side as they try to avoid a repeat of last season.
It gives Blackburn more time to try and agree a new contract with Dolan, but even if that doesn’t work, it means they get to retain a very good player for a little while longer, which surely strengthens them and not weakens them.
