Their win over Middlesbrough in midweek preceded some negative news.

Blackburn Rovers manager John Eustace has revealed, ahead of his side's clash with Leeds United this weekend, that Andi Weimman, Arnor Sigurdsson and Balazs Toth will be sidelined for the next few weeks with respective injuries.

The Lancashire side have a very quick turnaround between games. After an impressive win over Middlesbrough in midweek, in which they held Michael Carrick's side to zero goals following their run of 15 goals in their last three games, Eustace now has to prepare his players to face league leaders Leeds United.

Much like Boro, the Yorkshire outfit are on an impressive run, having lost just once since mid-September.

Farke and his players won't have any rest advantage over Rovers, as they both played on Wednesday evening, but their attentions now must turn to Saturday, when they face each other at the oddly scheduled time of 1:30pm.

While Leeds will have no freshness boost over Blackburn, they will have a fitness advantage, as Eustace has revealed a triple injury blow has been suffered by the Ewood Park residents.

John Eustace reveals triple Blackburn injury blow ahead of Leeds

A trio of Rovers players now face some weeks out of the squad after picking up knocks. Weimann had been dealing with a knee injury but exacerbated it in training this week. There was a threat that he may have needed surgery had he continued to go on, but he has been advised by the club's medical staff to take a break in order to avoid more damage being done.

"Andi will be missing for a couple of weeks, unfortunately," said Eustace, via the Lancashire Telegraph.

"He's been playing through a knee injury which people didn't know about. He's had that for four games and yesterday it swelled up a bit in training.

"We have decided there is no point risking it. We want to get him right so he's going to have a few weeks off. He'll be back sooner rather than later and then he'll be back fit and be a great addition to the group.

"He doesn't need surgery, thankfully, but it could've been so we've got lucky there. It was important to get him right because he's a top performer for us and we need him."

There was hope that Sigurdsson could be back later in the week, but a further set back with his calf injury is also going to keep him out for a couple of weeks or so. Similar can be said for his Hungarian goalkeeping teammate, whose ankle problem, which was picked up during the international break, has also ruled him out of action.

Eustace added, on those two blows: "Arnor won't be available (for Leeds), he's going to be another couple of weeks. Unfortunately, he's going to be a bit longer than we'd initially hoped. He came back to training last Monday and he's broken down again and will be a little bit longer.

"Balasz got a kick on international break, he has sprained his ankle quite badly. He will be missing for at least another two weeks as well."

Blackburn need to manage their way through this tough winter period

Luckily for Eustace, the trio of absentees doesn't include players who have been regular starters for him this season. They aren't losing any majorly key pieces of their squad, but, at this time of the campaign, all the depth you can get really does help so that managers can rotate and rest their players when needs be.

Blackburn's back-to-back wins have kept them hovering around the top six after a run of three losses and a draw prior to that. As long as they can keep themselves within touching distance, by the end of this busy Christmas schedule, then they should, hopefully, be able to kick-on once some of these players are back to full fitness.
