We asked our Luton Town pundit about their dream end to the January 2025 window.
This article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more…
FLW's Luton Town fan pundit has admitted that he would still like to see multiple signings made in his dream end to the January 2025 window.
The Hatters have faced massive struggles this term and currently occupy 23rd place in the league ahead of a difficult run of games against the likes of Sunderland and Sheffield United.
Matt Bloomfield has so far been unable to bring that new manager bounce, with a solitary point from his opening three matches.
So far in this window, the new coach has seen the arrival of Isaiah Jones from Middlesbrough as well as Christ Makosso signing from RWD Molenbeek.
This isn't enough to satisfy the Kenilworth Road faithful, and if Luton are to secure their place in the second tier, they'll need to bring in further reinforcements in the coming days.
To get an understanding of what would provide a dream end to the winter window, Football League World spoke to their resident Hatters pundit, Simon Mills, who believes they need a number of signings to make it a successful January.
He said: "My dream transfer window probably isn't a reality.
"We need to move several players out of the squad, who, for whatever reason, have not been performing this season. This includes players like Cauley Woodrow and Amari'i Bell. They are the players that come to mind.
"Our priority has to be a left-back, a creative midfielder and a striker at the minimum.
"We have a few too many centre-backs in the squad now, since we changed to Matt Bloomfield.
"A good signing would be Willem Geubbels, who we have been linked with from the Swiss League.
"We need to freshen it up as soon as possible."
The position that Luton find themselves in ultimately has to force the hand of the hierarchy, who should understand that Bloomfield needs more assistance in the transfer market.
Simon is undoubtedly correct in his assessment of the situation, with those three positions now needing to be made a top priority.
While they have been bad at the back, going forward has also become a real issue, with the likes of Elijah Adebayo and Carlton Morris struggling to convert the chances created for them.
Outside of that, it will take time for Bloomfield to fully implement his system, but if the head coach can secure some carefully chosen additions in the transfer market, it will make the transition much more seamless.
This next week is pivotal in the Hatters' season and if they can get it correct, they can steer themselves away from a potential return to League One.
