Sky Germany and Bild both report that Lukas Ullrich will join Borussia Mönchengladbach from Hertha Berlin in the summer when his contract expires.
The 19-year-old will sign a contract at the club until 2027. Ullrich has also reportedly already completed his medical at Gladbach ahead of his move. Eintracht Frankfurt were also interested in the left-back but Ullrich follows the same path as Luca Netz did two seasons ago.
Unlike the signing of Netz, Hertha will not receive any sort of transfer fee for Ullrich and will only receive a training compensation fee from Gladbach of six figures. Ullrich is yet to play for Hertha’s first team and has spent most of his time playing in the Regionalliga NordOst.
Ullrich is likely to fight Luca Netz for the starting left-back position left open by Ramy Bensebaini who will leave the club in the summer. Netz joined Gladbach from Hertha in 2021 for €2m but has struggled to play ahead of Bensebaini.
