Luka Modric set a new international feat during Croatia's World Cup clash with Morocco in Wednesday's early kick off.

Modric has won all there is to win at club level with Real Madrid, scooping five Champions League trophies alongside three La Liga titles, and has previously impressed on the international stage.

His performances at the 2018 World Cup dragged Croatia to the final, and though they were beaten 4-2 by France in the final in Moscow, Modric was still rewarded with the grandest prize of them all that year.

He became the first player not called Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo to win the Ballon d'Or since 2007 when Kaka pipped the legendary duo to the award for his performances with AC Milan and Brazil.

Modric shows no signs of slowing down just yet, even with over 150 international caps to his name, and he set a remarkable record during Croatia's 2022 World Cup opener against Morocco.

The former Tottenham midfielder became the first player to play in both the European Championship and World Cup in three different decades.

His first Euros campaign came in 2008 and he has since played in the 2012, 2016 and 2020 editions. His World Cup adventures have come in 2006, 2014 and 2018, with this latest venture perhaps being Modric's late chance of a good run at 37 years of age.

Real Madrid, playing a vital role in their Champions League and La Liga double last season.
