Bronze, who scored during the shootout win over Sweden, had to sit out the penalties against Spain.

She was replaced at half-time of extra-time by Niamh Charles after suffering a knee injury.

However, Bronze in fact played with an injury to her other leg throughout the whole of the tournament in Switzerland.

How did Lucy Bronze suffer her injury?

Lucy Bronze revealed she found out she suffered a fractured tibia after England beat Portugal 6-0 in a Nations League clash back on May 30th.

However, there appeared to be no immediate concerns over her injury, as Sarina Wiegman included the Chelsea star in her 23-player squad.

Bronze told the BBC after the game: “I’ve actually played the whole tournament with a fractured tibia but no one knew.

“Then I’ve just hurt my knee on the other leg. I think that’s why I got praise from the girls after the Sweden game because I’ve been in a lot of pain.

“If that’s what it will take to play for England, that’s what I’ll do. Very painful.”

Bronze in another interview revealed that the players and Wiegman knew about her injury.

When asked if she had been on pain medication, she replied: “Yeah a little bit but I couldn’t be on it all the time so I haven’t been training all the time but I’ve played the games and fought for my team.”

Will Lucy Bronze be out of action?

After her heroics at Women’s Euro 2025, there will now be questions about whether she will miss any time in the upcoming Women’s Super League season.

The WSL fixtures were announced on Friday, with Chelsea set to start their season against Manchester City on Friday, September 5th.

This gives Bronze just under six weeks to recover in time for the start of the new campaign.

Whether Bronze will miss any time will depend on the severity of the fracture.

How long does a fractured tibia take to heal?

Medical websites state that fractured tibias typically take three to six months to heal. However, more severe cases can take up to a year and in Bronze’s case it might depend on whether she needs surgery.

Bronze, Chelsea and England are yet to confirm what is next for Bronze after admitting that she has suffered a fractured tibia.

There will also be concerns after Bronze suffered an injury to the knee of her other leg during the Euro 2025 final.

So there is a strong possibility that Chelsea will start their WSL defence without Bronze.

How many minutes did Lucy Bronze play with a fractured leg?

Lucy Bronze started all six games at Euro 2025 and racked up 600 minutes – more than any England player except Keira Walsh (601), Alex Greenwood (628) and Hannah Hampton (632).

Her heroics came off the back of a busy domestic treble-winning season with Chelsea during the 2024-25 campaign.

Bronze appeared to be in some pain during England’s celebrations following the game.

She was carried over to the England fans by goalkeeper Anna Moorhouse as they ran to them to celebrate their Euro 2025 triumph.

When is the England trophy parade?

Lucy Bronze and her England teammates will celebrate their Euro 2025 success in London on Tuesday, July 29th.

Fans can show their support for the team when the open-top parade begins at 12.10pm along The Mall.

It will culminate with a staged ceremony at the Queen Victoria Memorial in front of Buckingham Palace starting at 12.30pm.
