Eli Junior Kroupi (18) is having a stand-out season in Ligue 2 with formative club FC Lorient. The forward, who broke through in Ligue 1 with Les Merlus last season, currently has eight goals and one assist in 12 games.
However, Kroupi may not finish the season with Lorient, as Foot Mercato reveal. Lorient are currently in financial difficulty and are therefore needing to raise funds, perhaps as early as this January. France youth international Kroupi is the most bankable asset in the squad and ahead of the opening of the winter transfer window, he is garnering interest.
According to Foot Mercato, Red Bull Leipzig are big fans of the forward and talks between the Bundesliga side and Les Merlus could soon get underway. RB Leipzig manager Marco Rose is a particular admirer of the promising Kroupi, who is valued at around €8m by the Ligue 2 side, who currently sit second in the table.
