FC Lorient president Loïc Féry has revealed to L’Équipe that the Brittany outfit agreed a deal with West Ham over the signing of Nigerian striker Terem Moffi (23).

Ligue 1’s fourth-best goalscorer with twelve strikes attracted significant interest during the winter transfer window. The Nigerian eventually signed for Ineos-owned OGC Nice on loan with a mandatory €30m option to buy, including add-ons. Féry recalled a frantic transfer window for Les Merlus who also sold winger Dango Ouattara (20) to Bournemouth for a €27.5m fee.

Féry revealed that despite the arrival of Bournemouth owner Bill Foley as a shareholder at Lorient, Les Merlus could have sold Moffi to a rival of the south coast club. Féry revealed that Lorient accepted two offers for Moffi before he signed for Nice, one from Marseille, the other from Premier League sixteenth-placed outfit West Ham. The Lorient president took a slight dig at Les Aiglons by criticising their methods and their stubbornness. “I think they have to operate differently because, if they are as ambitious as they say, they can’t destabilise all the clubs. There was a lack of regard.“
