Liverpool have confirmed that goalkeeper Faye Kirby has torn her ACL and will miss the remainder of the season.

The 19-year-old suffered the injury while playing on loan at Aberdeen last weekend, after just signing for the Scottish side this summer.

Kirby is seen as one for the future for the Merseyside club and has flourished in the young season with Aberdeen.

“It’s disappointing, we’re gutted for Faye because she’s been playing well for Aberdeen,” Liverpool boss Matt Beard said.

“It was an innocuous challenge and her own player made contact with her so we’re desperately disappointed because she was excellent since she’s been here.”

Last season Kirby made three appearances in the Women’s Super League and was voted players’ Young Player of the Year.
