Barcelona to announce Hansi Flick renewal in May after reaching agreement in principle | OneFootball

Following their Copa del Rey triumph this past weekend by beating Real Madrid in the finals, there is more good news for FC Barcelona.

Hansi Flick, the man responsible for the success that the Catalans have achieved so far this season has reached an agreement in principle with the club over a new contract.

This claim comes from Sky Sports journalist Patrick Berger, who states that the Blaugrana plan on announcing the manager’s renewal next month.

Having joined Barcelona last summer, Flick had signed a two-year deal until 2026. But given how the team has evolved this season under his guidance, the Catalan giants have been working to further extend his contract for some time now.

And, it appears that an agreement in principle has now been reached between the two parties, with a few final details left to be resolved.

Flick is set to sign a one-year extension until 2027, with the 60-year-old keen on taking a season-by-season approach over penning a long-term deal at one go.

The official announcement is expected to be made next month by the club.

Since taking over the reins, Flick has already led Barcelona to the Spanish Super Cup and the Copa del Rey titles.

They are also sitting at the top of the table in La Liga with a four-point lead over Real Madrid and have made it to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

Flick and his staff have garnered appreciation from all corners for the way they have worked their magic at Barcelona this season. And a renewal is more than well deserved for the former Bayern Munich and Germany coach.
