In a recent report, The Athletic revealed that Liverpool winger Harry Wilson has agreed to join Fulham this summer. It is believed that the Reds would pocket around £12m for the Welsh wide player in this off-season (via The Athletic).

Wilson’s Impressive Loan Spell At The Cardiff City Stadium

The Wrexham-born talent had a fruitful loan spell at Cardiff City last season when he produced a run of eye-catching displays as a key member of their attack. Wilson banged in seven goals and picked up 12 assists in 38 matches for the Bluebirds in the previous campaign across all fronts.

The 24-year-old showed some signs of maturity with his performances from the right-wing as he averaged 2.0 shots, 1.7 key passes and 1.5 crosses per 90 minutes in the EFL Championship last season. However, his ball distribution has a lot of room for improvement after he completed 73% of his attempted passes in the English second division (stats via whoscored).

Wilson still has a contract at Anfield until 2023 but would struggle to get any game time if he stayed at the Merseyside club next season. Hence, it makes sense for the player to make a switch to Fulham and be a dominant force for them in the Championship next season.

Wilson Close To Leaving Liverpool To Join Fulham: Good Move For Everyone Involved?

Wilson has decent pace under his belt and can make some energetic runs with the ball out on the wide areas. He can launch some powerful and accurate strikes from long range but needs to be more careful with his passing in the final third. Still, the Wales international deserves a lot of credit for adding plenty of goals and assists to his game while on loan in the Championship last season.

Even then, Wilson has no future at Liverpool as he is not ready to compete with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota for a place in Jurgen Klopp’s first team. Hence, it is only fair to the Welshman for the Reds to let him go to another club where he will be guaranteed regular first-team football next season.

All in all, Wilson’s transfer to Fulham seems like a good move for everyone involved as he has what it takes to be a top performer at Craven Cottage over the next few years. Klopp can also benefit from cashing in on him so that he can use to money generated from his sale to strengthen other areas of his squad ahead of the new campaign.
