Barcelona are already planning their transfer strategy for next summer. It is no secret that the club are looking to add reinforcements in the attacking unit despite the top form of its offensive trio.

It must be noted that Robert Lewandowski is currently in the final phase of his career, with Barcelona lacking any real long-term replacement. Therefore, the focus is on signing a new forward, who can supplement and later replace Lewandowski.

Luis Diaz: The priority target for Barça?

According to Miguel Rico, one name that remains high on their wish list is Liverpool’s Luis Diaz. The Colombian winger is considered a priority by sporting director Deco, who has been closely monitoring the player.

Deco recently traveled to Brazil to watch Diaz in action against the Brazilian national team, where the 28-year-old found the net in Colombia’s 2-1 defeat.

His presence at the Mane Garrincha stadium in Brasilia is a testament to how highly he rates the Liverpool star.

In fact, it appears Barcelona’s scouting network continues to track South American talents, and Deco is set to travel to Argentina next, where he will observe Brazil’s clash with Argentina, featuring Raphinha.

The primary reason for Barcelona’s interest in Diaz is their long-term planning for the post-Lewandowski era.

With Robert Lewandowski not getting any younger, the club wants to secure a dynamic forward who can offer versatility in the attack.

Diaz, who can operate both as a left winger and as a forward, fits the profile perfectly. The player, for his part, appears to be keen on a move to Barça as well.

However, Barcelona’s financial situation complicates any potential deal. The club has yet to finalize its summer transfer budget, and much will depend on player sales.

While the club would prefer to offload unwanted players, they may have to make difficult decisions about selling key assets to fund moves for priority targets like Diaz.
