It hardly comes as a surprise to see top players claim that they dream of joining a side like FC Barcelona. After all, given the club’s prestige and history, it is a sensible and logical choice to make for any aspiring footballer. However, while many people dream of it, only a special few manage to make their way to Barcelona.
Still, there are certain players who are being chased by clubs from all across Europe. With such a huge demand for these stars, any hint of intent from them can go a long way in assessing the possibility of signing them for any particular club.
For Barcelona, the intention of players is something that always seems to hold importance, and even more so recently due to the club’s limited financial resources. Any top player that wants to commit themselves entirely to the club is someone that Barça would appreciate having within the team.
One such player is Ligue 1 forward Jonathan David, who currently plays for French side Lille. Aged 25, he is currently enjoying a great spell of form and is a player who is in demand across Europe’s top leagues.
For him on an individual level, however, it is clear that he wants to join a certain club that plays in Spain. During a recent interview he did while on international duty, as highlighted by MARCA, the Canadian forward confessed his desire to play in La Liga one day, and specifically for Barcelona:
“I grew up watching a lot of LaLiga, and one day I’d love to play there… It (Barcelona) was the team I supported as a kid. When you grow up cheering for a club, you dream of playing there.”
So far this season, he has scored 14 goals and has provided 3 assists in 24 Ligue 1 appearances. Moreover, he also has 7 goals in 10 matches in the UEFA Champions League, a competition where his team was knocked out by Borussia Dortmund just recently.
Interestingly, however, this is not the first time that the Canadian centre-forward has confessed his desire to play at Barcelona one day. He has done so before in an interview as well, and this repetition of his desire might just be a major sign for the Catalan giants, who have been linked to the player in the past as well.
