A member of the defensive ranks at Premier League champions Liverpool has already ‘given his approval’ to a move to Spain with Real Madrid.

That’s according to Diario AS, who point towards Ibrahima Konaté as the player in question.

The situation at the heart of Liverpool’s defence has of course dominated the headlines across all of Europe for several days now.

This comes with the Reds understood to be closing on a double deal, for Crystal Palace standout Marc Guéhi, and Parma talent Giovanni Leoni.

The widespread assumption, in turn, is that Arne Slot and co. are preparing for an incoming departure from the club’s backline.

And if the latest word stemming from Spain on Thursday is anything to go by, then Ibrahima Konaté appears to be the player eyeing a departure from Merseyside.

As per a report from AS, ahead of the expiration of his contract terms at Anfield in the summer of 2026:

‘Ibrahima Konaté has already given his approval to Real Madrid, whether for this summer or next. The Frenchman wants to wear white.’
