Jordan Henderson may miss six weeks of action for Liverpool after latest groin injury against Everton

A report by Mirror mentions that Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson could be absent for up to 6 weeks after suffering a groin injury against Everton in the Merseyside derby loss last weekend.

As if the first home defeat to Everton in 22 years wasn’t enough, Liverpool endured another injury to a senior player. This time, it was the club captain, and Klopp was told by the medics that his injury does not look good.

Henderson was pursued by Abdoulaye Doucoure when he pulled up short and went down to the ground. The 30-year-old was then taken off after just half an hour into the derby.

The former Sunderland midfielder had been filling in at the back for Liverpool amidst the club’s defensive trouble. Despite the Reds signing Ozan Kabak and Ben Davies on deadline day in January, Henderson started at centre-back in all league games this month.

Worrying news for Klopp

His injury is feared to be an adductor muscle injury, which the club fears to be a grade two tear. If true, Henderson could be out for up to a month and a half. (h/t Mirror)

Liverpool also have a crunch European second-leg clash coming up against RB Leipzig on 10th March. The Reds cruised to a 2-0 away win in a game where Henderson partnered Ozan Kabak in the heart of the defence.
