FC Barcelona is among the clubs interested in Athletic Club’s Nico Williams, but they might be considering a Plan B. This could be because the Spanish winger is likely heading to the Premier League.

A recent report from CaughtOffside shows that Williams has caught the eye of several major clubs, including Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham, Barcelona, and PSG.

Additionally, his impressive performance at UEFA Euro 2024 has likely heightened the interest in the 21-year-old even more. However, Daily Express reports that Williams may be on his way to Liverpool this summer.

Recent reports from SPORT indicate that Athletic Club are not open to negotiating with Barcelona and is pointing to the termination clause. There were discussions about Barça wanting to pay the total amount in several installments, but Bilbao rejected this idea as well.

Williams has a release clause of €58 million, and to sign the Spanish winger, Barcelona also needs to offer him a significant salary, making the situation financially challenging for them.

Barcelona might have a Plan B in mind due to the tough challenge of securing the winger from Athletic Club. According to El Chiringuito, if the Catalan side can’t land Williams this summer, they’ll go after Club Toluca’s Uruguayan standout, Maximiliano Araújo.
