Liverpool are reportedly keeping tabs on Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri ahead of a possible swoop in the summer transfer window.
According to 90min, Liverpool and Manchester United have both asked to be updated on his situation as the next transfer window draws closer, with West Ham also interested in the forward.
The report claims that Sevilla are hopeful that En-Nesyri will sign a new contract with the club, given the striker is currently happy at the La Liga side.
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
Liverpool have struggled to find a consistent scorer outside of Mo Salah this season, with Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino both failing to hit double digits in the Premier League so far. Diogo Jota was threatening to become Liverpool’s second-most productive forward earlier in the season, with nine goals in nine starts across the Premier League and Champions League, but has been out since the start of December with a knee injury.
Another forward who could come in and provide 15-20 goals a season for the Reds could be a huge boost to Jurgen Klopp’s squad. Not only could it ease the goalscoring burden from Mo Salah’s shoulders, but it could give Mane and Firmino the freedom to not be weighed down by the pressure put on them to produce week-in-week-out in the Premier League and Champions League.
En-Nesyri has an incredible record for Sevilla this season, with 12 goals in 16 starts as a striker so far – averaging a WhoScored rating of 7.42. He also has 17 goals in all competitions this term, with four of those coming in the Champions League. This is an impressive return for the 23-year-old, who has plenty of years left to develop and improve as a player. He could come in as competition for the front three at first before being coached by Klopp into becoming a starting XI calibre forward for the Reds.
