Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker suffered a nasty head injury while playing for Brazil and returned to the club for further tests.
While the Reds have an equally reliable back-up goalkeeper in Caoimhin Kelleher, losing Alisson at this stage of the season would have been a massive blow for Arne Slot.
The Reds goalkeeper was forced off for Brazil during their game against Colombia in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier following a nasty head injury.
He appeared to have picked up a suspected concussion, and the 32-year-old returned to Anfield for further check-ups.
When Alisson returned to the side after a long injury lay-off, Slot made it clear that the Brazilian would be his first choice at the club. With nine matches left to go, Liverpool need all their key players to be at their best form, including Alisson.
The Brazilian has now posted a message on social media providing an update on his injury situation, which should be a massive relief for the fans.
The Brazilian wrote: “Hey guys, just to let you know I’m fine! Just have to follow the protocols! Thanks for the messages.”
Liverpool will resume action after the international break in April when they take on Everton in the Merseyside derby clash at Anfield. With more than a week left, Alisson will get time to recover fully, and he should be able to resume normal training shortly.
The Reds can still cope without Alisson, and Kelleher can equally do a brilliant job; the Brazilian’s presence behind the sticks exudes confidence throughout the team as he is arguably one of the best in his position, if not the best.
Liverpool will welcome Giorgi Mamardashvili to Anfield following the end of his loan spell at Valencia.
The Reds signed the 24-year-old goalkeeper from Valencia last season for a fee of around £29 million (£4m add-ons included) and sent him on loan to Los Che immediately for the rest of the season. He is excited about moving to Anfield and determined to fight for the number one spot at his new club.
His arrival will mean Liverpool will have to decide on the current goalkeeping situation. Alisson has a contract at Liverpool until 2027, and he is likely to continue.
