Liverpool offered former transfer target at bargain £13m price | OneFootball

Liverpool have been offered the chance to sign Khephren Thuram from Nice this summer for a fee of just £13m.

Thuram was on the club’s shortlist of midfield options last summer and Liverpool were quoted an asking price of £34m for the 23-year-old.

The midfielder, who is the son of the former France international Lilian, and the younger brother of Inter and France forward Marcus, was named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Season for 2022/23.

He made his senior debut for France in March 2023 and Nice were reluctant to lose Thuram last summer, though could be forced into a cut-price sale due to the player’s contract situation. Thuram will enter the final 12 months of his deal with the French side at the end of the current campaign and the Mirror are reporting he has been offered to interested clubs for a fee of just £13m.

Manchester United could also emerge as suitors with the club’s new investors, Ineos, also owning Nice, while Barcelona and Juventus have been linked.

Nice manager Francesco Farioli believes Thuram has benefitted from an extra season of development in Ligue 1.

“Perhaps, in some matches, there was a gap between the huge expectations and some matches where he wasn’t at 100 per cent. He has responded and shown he is a great player,” Farioli said.

“He has shown a lot of maturity. What I have seen in recent weeks is something clicking into place on a mental level. He is taking responsibility. He has grown and matured, notably in terms of his defensive work and also his consistency within matches. He has his individual reading of the game, too. It makes him unique, precious and that’s why he’s followed by lots of teams.”
