The former Liverpool legend also revealed that if he could sign one player for his former club, it would be Nicolo Barella.

The Inter Milan star midfielder injured himself in the Derby Della Madonnina defeat to AC Milan in the Serie A.

Therefore, Italy coach Luciano Spalletti didn’t call Barella up this past international break.

However, recent reports suggest that Barella has recovered. So much that Barella could play in the Serie A clash against Roma

The Serie A clash is scheduled for this Sunday October 20th, in Rome’s Stadio Olimpico. Kick-off scheduled for 20.45 CET.

When asked who would win the Serie A this season Lawrenson unequivocally stated “Inter, Inter.”

Subsequently, Lawrenson was asked to pick any other Italian player other than Federico Chiesa for his Liverpool he was just as clear: “Barella, the midfield player.”

On the topic of Federico Chiesa, Lawrenson stated he believed the former Juventus winger could be an important player for Liverpool. If he can stay fit that is.

Federico Chiesa signed for Liverpool this last summer in a deal worth reportedly £12.5 million, add-ons included.

However, the winger has suffered from lots of injury issues in recent years.

Lawrenson stated: “If he can stay fit then absolutely [he is a good signing for Liverpool]. He’s injured now.

“He is a player, he is quick and if he can get back into form, then most definitely. He can put people under pressure. And that is good for the team.”

In conclusion, Lawrenson also gave his thoughts on Arsenal Italy defender Riccardo Calafiori.

Lawrenson stated: “I’ve only seen him on TV. He plays left side at the moment. But with him he’ll get into the middle when one of the lads are injured. And he’ll probably stay there.

“I like him. I think he’s very, very good. They have done well there taking him. That might lead Arsenal to win the league.”
