Harvey Elliott is likely to be kept around for this season coming at Liverpool and used as a replacement in the squad for Xherdan Shaqiri, with the Swiss international eyeing an exit from Anfield in this current summer transfer window.

Shaqiri has been a squad player for his entire Liverpool career and, though he’s obviously had some high moments, he’d surely want to be playing more than he has in the last few years.

This is a decision that could make sense, and it gives Elliott the chance to be exposed to more first-team minutes with Liverpool – though he obviously won’t be playing regularly as Shaqiri hasn’t.

You’d argue the Reds still need to sign another attacker, though, and we’ll have to wait and see if they can do that.
