Could PSG serve as a cautionary tale for Liverpool? The Reds have reportedly pulled off landing two strikers that can potentially be elite in Alexander Isak and Hugo Ektike. Nonetheless, the hurdle for manager Arne Slot is keeping them happy.
Slot will need to scheme up a plan that allows each striker to be satisfied with the minutes they are receiving and role on the squad. Whether they play together or share that No. 9 role will be the intriguing question mark for the 2025-26 season.
If the Reds can pull that off, they can again be the clear-cut favorite to win the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.

So, what exactly does this have to do with PSG? Well, the Parisians were one team that tried to have two elite goal-scorers share that No. 9 position and were among the clubs that Ensemble PSG columnist Zach Lowy believes couldn’t make it work, so Liverpool will need to buck the trend.
“When was the last time a club kept two elite strikers happy and maintained them in their squad for a long period?” Lowy wrote on X. “PSG couldn’t do it with Cavani/Mbappé. Villa couldn’t do it with Durán and Watkins. Real couldn’t do it with Raúl/Benzema. Will Isak/Ekitiké be any different?”
PSG don’t have to face Liverpool in the league phase of the Champions League, but these two could face each other in the knockout stage and have a rematch of last season’s clash, with the Parisians coming out on top.
