Liverpool have conducted a radical overhaul of their playing squad this summer. Around £300m has been spent on players including Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Giorgi Mamardashvili and Giovanni Leoni.

And in order to balance the books - as well as create space for the new arrivals - sporting director Richard Hughes and head coach Arne Slot have been busy with outgoings.

The Reds have recouped plenty of money in sales - with Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Jarell Quansah, Ben Doak, Caoimhin Kelleher, Tyler Morton, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Nat Phillips all leaving.

The Anfield club remain interested in Alexander Isak as well as Marc Guehi - and for that reason we could see even MORE players leave before next week’s transfer deadline.

Elliott agrees Leipzig deal

Kostas Tsimikas has got plenty of suitors on the continent while Harvey Elliott has agreed a deal to join RB Leipzig.

The England under-21 international is seeking more first-team football, reportedly seeing the Bundesliga club as the ideal place to land.

Right now however the deal is blocked despite personal terms being agreed.

That’s because Leipzig need to clear out Xavi Simons before the window closes. Chelsea are reported to be the Dutchman’s prime suitors but so far a deal looks a long way off.

Leipzig waiting on Chelsea's Xavi Simons offer

Simons played in the weekend 6-0 drubbing at the hands of Bayern Munich but had hoped to be a Chelsea player by now.

But according to a report in BILD, the Blues are insisting that Leipzig take a player of theirs as part of the deal - with Axel Disasi and Carney Chukwuemeka both mentioned.

Most likely however is that Christopher Nkunku ends up back at his former club - but not everyone in Leipzig is convinced. So that means both Simons’ move to Stamford Bridge and Elliott’s transfer to Leipzig are on hold.

Time is working against Leipzig

“Leipzig has an agreement with England jewel Harvey Elliott (22/Liverpool) and desperately wants him as Xavi’s replacement,” the report reads. “But time is working against RB—they have competition for him. Every day that passes reduces their chances.”

Xavi, 22, is valued at around €70m and Liverpool will receive around €40m for Elliott according to reports. Let’s hope this one gets unblocked soon in order for Elliott to receive the first-team football he craves.
