Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says his players need to toughen up after their 1-1 draw with Newcastle.

Klopp said his charges needed to figure out how to become a tougher proposition at home where they have now failed to win nine times this season.

"It's like every player in the world needs momentum and positive feedback from himself and in certain situations, but the long-term solutions are fine," Klopp said.

"The short-term solutions we have to think about and work on.

"It's not too simplistic to say that [having fans and injured players back will fix problems], I know that because when the season is over and some defenders come back then we will all of a sudden play again.

"We have to become a very tricky team to play against, an angry team and all these kind of things and we will become that again."

The Liverpool boss said that his team now have "nothing to lose" in the race for the top four over the next few weeks.

Klopp added: "We now have the chance to do that and we have nothing to lose, so it is definitely like this.

"We are in the situation where Chelsea or West Ham can win, they will go four or five points clear and then we play Manchester United away, so it [top four] doesn't look likely.

"These things make it unlikely but we don't finish games off like this too often. So why should we play in the Champions League? That is the question."
