In a recent report, journalist Pete O’Rourke revealed that Liverpool are eyeing a move for Bayer 04 Leverkusen wide player Jeremie Frimpong. It is understood that the Reds have set their sights on the Dutch talent ahead of the summer transfer window.

Frimpong’s Impressive Record In German Football

Frimpong is having an excellent campaign at the German club as he has managed to put in a lot of productive performances for them on the right flank. The Dutch sensation has participated in 36 matches for Leverkusen this season, scoring 12 goals and picking up 11 assists across various competitions.

The 23-year-old has been a reliable performer in the final third and deserves a ton of credit for averaging 1.8 shots, 1.6 key passes and 1.6 dribbles per 90 minutes in Bundesliga. He has also been excellent when distributing the ball from the right wing based on his pass success rate of 81.4% in the German top tier (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the German club will run out in 2028. Thus, the Reds would have to make a big offer if they are serious about acquiring Frimpong’s services later this year.

Should Liverpool Go For Frimpong?

Frimpong is a great dribbler with the ball and can make some dangerous runs in and around the opponent’s penalty box. He can shoot the ball with power and precision from long range and can create a few inviting chances for others around him from the right flank. The Dutch wide player can chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals up top. He is primarily a right-sided winger but can also fill in as a right-back if needed.

Frimpong would add more quality and depth to Liverpool‘s squad. He has what it takes to help the Reds compete across all fronts in the future. At 23, Frimpong has the potential to become a world-class player in his position someday.

Thus, the Merseyside club would be wise to go in with an offer for the Bayer Leverkusen star in the summer transfer window. However, there are some concerns over whether he can adapt to the physical side and high intensity of Premier League football if Liverpool manage to snap him up at the end of this season.
