Liverpool have announced another major summer exit with Joël Matip to depart the club upon the expiration of his contract.

The 32-year-old's current deal ends this summer and he has not been offered a renewal to remain.

As a result, Matip will depart and bring an end to a hugely successful eight-year spell on Merseyside.

He arrived from Schalke on a free transfer and made over 200 appearances for the Reds, although he has been plagued by injuries recently.

Matip won seven trophies at Anfield, including a Champions League crown and Premier League title.

And he will be joined in departing the club by fellow out-of-contract star Thiago, who will also move on at the end of the season on a free transfer.

The Spain international's four years at the Reds were also beset by injury problems, limiting him to 98 appearances, during which time he scored six goals.

During his spell with Liverpool, he won an FA Cup and the Community Shield.
