Liverpool and Manchester United are in talks about two preseason friendlies this summer.
The Premier League rivals are negotiating the options of facing each other at Manchester United's home in July and then on Merseyside a month later.
The plan is for fans to be welcomed back to both sporting arenas as part of the process of bringing supporters back into stadiums ahead of the new season, reports the Daily Mail.
Liverpool are not planning to play any friendlies abroad this summer but will travel to Austria and France for pre-season training camps.
Premier League clubs usually embark on pre-season overseas tours but they are effectively off the table due to travel restrictions.
