Liverpool academy prospect Tom Hill has suffered a gigantic blow after undergoing surgery on an ACL injury.

According to Neil Jones, of GOAL, Hill sustained an ACL injury in training and is now poised to be out on the sidelines for the remainder of the 2020/21 campaign for the club’s under-18 side.

It has not been revealed how he picked up the injury in training, although that is largely irrelevant given the greater issue of his recovery being of importance.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

The 17-year-old central midfielder enjoyed a fruitful 2019/20 season as he scored eight goals and assisted one in 12 games in the U-18 Premier League for Liverpool.

However, his development has now been halted by a nasty injury and he will have to work hard throughout the next 12 months to come back in a good place for the following campaign.

This could be a huge blow to the young man as it could disrupt his rising progress through the ranks at Liverpool. He made EFL Cup appearances for Liverpool last season, despite being just 17, and picked up two assists in two games in the competition. This shows that he has the potential to move through the age groups and possibly be a first-team option in the future.

He now has to take a year out of action and make sure that he is able to come back to the level where he was before this injury. We wish him all the best in his rehab!
