Lincoln City are set to sign Finley Barbrook on loan from Ispwich Town.
Ipswich Town youngster Fin Barbrook is set to join League One side Lincoln City on loan ahead of Monday's 7pm transfer deadline.
It looks like it could be a busy day at Portman Road, with several players set to leave the Championship club, such as Luke Woolfenden, Chiedozie Ogbene, Ali Al-Hamadi, and now Barbrook.
The young midfielder made his senior debut for the Tractor Boys in an EFL Cup defeat to Bromley in August, and is now set to head to League One for his third senior loan spell, this time with Lincoln.
Barbrook is yet to make his full EFL debut, having spent the past two seasons at National League South side Chelmsford Town, and National League side Sutton United respectively.
However, he is now expected to gain his first taste of the EFL, with journalist Ben Jacobs revealing that he will be joining up with Michael Skubala's side before the window closes at 7pm on Monday.
The Ipswich academy product has worked his way through the ranks at Portman Road, and was rewarded after two successful loan spells in non-league with his senior debut for Kieran McKenna's side in August.
However, the 20-year-old won't be sticking around this season, as he looks to gain his first taste of EFL football to help aid his development, having spent the last two seasons learning his trade with Chelmsford and Sutton.
Journalist Jacobs has revealed the defensive midfielder is set to join League One side Lincoln on loan, in what's set to be a busy day in terms of departures for the Tractor Boys.
Barbrook has featured for Ipswich's under-21s side once already this season in the Premier League 2, where he scored the winning goal in a 3-2 victory over Leeds United.
The 20-year-old is a highly-rated prospect at Portman Road, and there will be plenty of eyes on him from his parent club when his temporary move to Sincil Bank is completed today.
Having worked his way up through non-league, Barbrook will now get the chance to play an exciting role in an ambitious Lincoln side, which could potentially be a huge springboard for him, and his chances of making it into the first team at Ipswich.
Whilst it's fair to say that the midfielder isn't exactly a well-known player yet, Skubala could've unearthed a gem in the youngster, and as we've seen many times before in League One, paying attention to the lower leagues can reap huge rewards.
With that in mind, the loan signing of Barbrook could be a great move for all parties involved, as it gives the player his first taste of EFL action, whilst also providing Lincoln with a potential gem.
